Salsa World is a digital platform that operates as a directory of events and a community for the Latin dance scene (salsa, bachata, kizomba and other rhythms). Its purpose is to help users find social events, classes and congresses, and to foster connections between dancers, organisers and dance schools.

3. Terms of use

Accessing and using this website confers the status of user and implies full acceptance of these terms. The user undertakes to:

Make lawful, careful, honest and correct use of the information and content on the website.
Not use the website for unlawful purposes or purposes contrary to public order.
Not introduce computer viruses, defective files or any other software that may damage the systems of the owner or third parties.
Not attempt to access restricted areas of the owner’s or third parties’ systems.

Access to the website is restricted to users aged 16 or over. Event data is provided by organisers and other public sources; the owner does not guarantee its accuracy and is not responsible for changes or cancellations of published events.

4. Intellectual and industrial property

All content on the website — including, by way of example, text, images, graphic design, source code, logos, trademarks and other elements — is the property of the owner or of third parties that have authorised its use, and is protected by intellectual and industrial property laws.

Reproduction, distribution, public communication or transformation of the content without the express authorisation of the owner is prohibited. The logos, trademarks and trade names of organisers and events published on the site belong to their respective owners.

5. Liability

The owner is not liable for:

Information published by event organisers or third parties, including prices, schedules, venues or last-minute changes.
Damage or loss arising from the use of the website’s information.
The availability and continuity of the website, although reasonable efforts will be made to keep it running correctly.
Viruses or malicious software present in the content.
Unlawful, negligent or fraudulent use of the website by users.

6. Third-party links

The website may contain links to third-party websites (organisers, venues, social networks). The owner is not responsible for the content, privacy policies or practices of such external sites. Accessing them is at the user’s sole responsibility.

7.2 Data we collect

Salsa World collects personal data through the following channels:

Contact form: name, email, phone (optional) and message (optional).

Event submissions: when organisers or other users submit event information, we may collect organiser name, email, event name, location, dates and descriptions.

Server logs: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, pages visited, date and time of access. Used exclusively for technical maintenance and security.

Waitlist: email address, country, city and browsing language, together with the date and time of signup. Collected only when the user submits the launch-page form. No IP address is recorded through this channel.

Handling enquiries and contact: responding to requests submitted through the contact form. Legal basis: consent of the data subject (Art. 6.1.a GDPR).

Waitlist management: notifying the user about the platform launch and offering early access. Legal basis: consent of the data subject (Art. 6.1.a GDPR), given by submitting the form. It can be withdrawn at any time by writing to info@salsaworld.mx.

Publication of events: managing event information submitted by organisers. Legal basis: performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures (Art. 6.1.b GDPR).

Security and abuse prevention: keeping the site secure and preventing fraudulent use. Legal basis: legitimate interest of the controller (Art. 6.1.f GDPR).

Compliance with legal obligations: where required by applicable law. Legal basis: legal obligation (Art. 6.1.c GDPR).

7.4 Retention period

Contact data: kept for as long as needed to handle the enquiry and afterwards for any applicable legal limitation periods.
Event data: while the event remains published and for a reasonable period afterwards for statistical and historical purposes.
Server logs: maximum 12 months.
Waitlist data: until the platform launches and for no more than 12 months afterwards. Deleted sooner if the user withdraws consent.

7.5 Recipients and international transfers

Personal data may be shared with the following recipients:

Hosting provider: Vercel Inc. (USA) — acts as data processor for website hosting and file storage. International transfers are covered by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
Database provider: Neon Inc. (USA) — data processor for the managed PostgreSQL database that stores site content. Transfers likewise covered by SCCs.
Spreadsheet provider: Google LLC (USA) — waitlist signups are stored in Google Sheets via Google Apps Script. Transfers likewise covered by SCCs.
Email provider: Resend (USA), used to send confirmation emails for the contact form. Transfers are likewise covered by SCCs.

No data is shared with third parties except where legally required.

7.6 User rights

Under GDPR and LOPDGDD, the user has the right to:

Access: find out what personal data we are processing.
Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure: request deletion of data when it is no longer necessary.
Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
Object (Art. 21 GDPR): object to the processing of your data in specific situations.
Restriction of processing: request the restriction of processing in certain cases.

If you believe your rights have not been properly handled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) — www.aepd.es.

7.7 Security

Salsa World implements the appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of personal data and prevent its alteration, loss, unauthorised processing or access, considering the state of the art, the nature of the stored data and the risks to which it is exposed.

Measures in place include: HTTPS/TLS-encrypted connections, access control over the administration panel, and hosting on infrastructure with security certifications.

7.8 Minors

This website is not directed at minors under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children below that age. If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

9. Changes to this notice

Salsa World reserves the right to modify this Legal Notice and the data-protection section to adapt them to legislative or case-law developments and to industry practice. In the event of significant changes, users will be informed through the website.

10. Applicable law and jurisdiction

This Legal Notice is governed by Spanish law in force. For the resolution of any dispute arising from the use of this website, the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of the owner’s domicile, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
